ECO STATEMENT
AT DEER PARK WE’RE DOING OUR BEST TO ACT RESPONSIBLY AND TO TAKE CARE OF OUR BEAUTIFUL PLANET. HERE ARE A FEW OF THE THINGS WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED IN THE HOPE TO REDUCE OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT.
Solar Panels
Bio Mass wood pellet boiler delivers hot water and heating to the main house and garden rooms
Air source heat pumps provide heating to our Georgian Orangery, MotorHouse and Playhouse
Voltage optimiser reduces the 240V to 220V Reducing electricity consumption by over 13%
All new buildings are wooden structures built with SIP panels for extra insulation saving more energy
Our Laundry company “The Eco Laundry” is the UKs first eco laundry using all green energy and Zero chemicalsWe are proud of our zero to landfill waste management program. All bottles are crushed on site, maximising space in the bins. Cardboard is also compacted into bales and food waste sent for composting. All plastics are segregated for recycling.
We use Viridor Food waste mulch on all our vegetable and garden boarders every year
We’ve restored our walled garden, using volunteers to help rebuild the walls and clear the acre and a half. The greenhouses are bespoke cedar as is the restored pineapple house
We have planted lots of cutting beds for fresh flowers for the house florist ~ Grown not Flown
We use wheelbarrows of fruit and vegetables in our kitchen, for the guests and our team
We’ve planted 1,500 young cider apple and pear trees on arable land and are making our own cider with plans to make a sparkling apple wine in the future
We’ve planted over 50 specimen trees in the last 5 years and plan to continue with 12 per year
All our Housekeeping cleaning products are free from chemicals
We have a plant based wedding package
Our Estates Manager, Oliver Forster is a board member of ROFA (River Otter Fisheries Association) working with the EA, Devon wildlife trust and the wild trout trust to improve the tributaries, head waters of the River Otter
We buy as much local food and drink as we can and have a sole supply agreement for all beverages thus reducing Transportation
We keep two hives bursting with busy bees
